Projects & Partnerships with other Nonprofits

SEWA DC

We’re proud to partner with the SEWA DC Youth Group, which has over 100 active members who regularly volunteer at our events. Our dedicated team, including 5+ youth board members, leads efforts to organize sales at SEWA partner locations such as Patel Brothers and local temples. At these events, we raise funds by selling eco-friendly products, and a portion of all proceeds is donated back to SEWA to support their service initiatives.

Together, we’re creating meaningful impact through youth-led action and are now working with SEWA to implement international projects funded by these efforts. This collaboration allows us to extend our impact beyond local communities, bringing education, resources, and empowerment to underprivileged groups worldwide.

Project ArtisanConnect Commerce

ArtisanConnect Commerce is an initiative to directly integrate e-commerce functionality into the websites of partnered tribal organizations. Instead of relying on third-party sellers or external platforms, this project will give artisans the ability to showcase, market, and sell their products directly to global customers. The platform will feature secure payment gateways, order tracking, and inventory management tools, all customized for ease of use in local contexts.

The project will also include training sessions for tribal members to manage their online stores independently, ensuring long-term sustainability. By empowering artisans with direct access to buyers, ArtisanConnect Commerce reduces reliance on middlemen, increases profit margins for the community, and strengthens cultural visibility on the global stage.

PokeShani.com

PokeShani is a zero-commission digital marketplace created as part of Serving Society Global Foundation (SSGF) to empower underprivileged communities by helping them maximize profits and gain digital literacy skills for e-commerce. We identified a major gap in traditional platforms that take excessive fees from sellers, so PokeShani ensures creators keep 100% of their earnings. To sustain the platform, we will introduce optional premium features for regular users, with a portion of the profits donated back to support SSGF’s mission. Visit the site at pokeshani.com

Project Empower and Serve with EmpowerIndia Edu

Inspired by an enlightening conversation with the owner of Supporna Bamboo about the challenges underprivileged tribes face in affording post-secondary education, we launched Empower and Serve in partnership

 with Empower India Edu.

A percentage of our profits will be dedicated to providing literacy education to children in underprivileged communities in India, particularly those involved in creating our products. This program serves as a vital channel, offering lifelong educational support to hundreds of children and adults, thereby empowering them for a brighter future.

Dropshipping Internship Program

The Dropshipping Internship Project is an SSGF initiative that teaches students and underprivileged communities how to launch and manage their own dropshipping businesses. Interns gain hands-on experience in setting up online stores, sourcing sustainable products, managing logistics, and marketing effectively. This program not only builds real-world digital literacy and entrepreneurship skills but also creates pathways to financial independence and sustainable impact.

We plan to expand this project into schools in underprivileged communities, offering students a practical introduction to e-commerce and business. If you would like to apply to participate, apply here.

Sell Smart: Digital Literacy Series

We are working on Sell Smart, a new SSGF initiative that empowers underprivileged communities with digital literacy and e-commerce skills. Through a series of short training videos, participants will learn how to set up online stores, manage dropshipping, market their products, and build customer connections. With funds raised through our youth-led events, we are partnering with nonprofits in India to launch international training projects that give communities the tools to create sustainable income and long-term independence.

ImpactHack: Sustainable Futures

We are working on ImpactHack: Sustainable Futures, a hackathon by SSGF that challenges youth to design innovative solutions rooted in sustainability and community empowerment. Participants will work in teams to create projects that promote eco-friendly practices, support underprivileged artisans, and build pathways for financial independence through entrepreneurship. With mentorship and workshops, the event will help young changemakers turn ideas into impactful initiatives that align with SSGF’s mission of uplifting communities through sustainable and culturally meaningful innovation.

CultureConnect: Indian Arts & Heritage

We are working on CultureConnect, an SSGF project that creates Indian cultural and art sessions for youth. These sessions introduce students to India’s rich traditions through hands-on workshops in crafts, dance, music, and storytelling. By engaging youth in cultural learning, we aim to celebrate heritage, spark creativity, and build stronger connections to Indian identity and values.

The tribes who hand-craft our products

Sampoorna Bamboo Kendra

Sampoorna Bamboo Kendra, located near Nagpur, Maharashtra, India, provides training and employment to local underprivileged tribes, enabling them to craft affordable bamboo products. We have partnered with this organization to introduce their products to the US market.  This collaboration aims to enhance their funding to improve living conditions and support children's education within these tribal communities.

Bansi Emporium

Bansi Emporium, located in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India, is a government-supported initiative established under the MP State Bamboo Mission. This emporium showcases a diverse range of handcrafted bamboo products, including household items, decor, and jewelry, all created by skilled artisans trained at the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad. By providing a platform for these artisans, Bansi Emporium not only promotes sustainable living through eco-friendly alternatives to plastic and metal products but also empowers local communities by enhancing their livelihoods. Our collaboration with Bansi Emporium aims to introduce their sustainable bamboo products to the U.S. market, thereby supporting the artisans' economic growth and contributing to environmental conservation efforts.

Miscellaneous Tribal Artisans

Not all artisans we support belong to large, organized cooperatives. Many underprivileged individuals and small tribal groups live in remote villages or even alongside roads, often overlooked and lacking access to stable markets. We collaborate with these underprivileged artisans to provide the resources, connections, and support they need to sell their handmade goods. From single mothers crafting at home to roadside bamboo carvers, our mission is to uplift all voices in India’s artisan communities—ensuring no one is left behind.

We are seeking to expand our nonprofit by collaborating with similar organizations worldwide. If you know of any, please contact us.

Selling Partnerships

Rajdhani Mandir

Since we began sourcing products from tribes in India, a significant portion of our offerings now showcase traditional Indian cultural art, with some items holding religious significance. To effectively reach our target audience for these unique products, we have formed a strategic partnership with Rajdhani Mandir. This collaboration allows us to sell our items directly to the community during the weekly langar(when food is served) every Sunday. This strategic timing and location have led to consistently high sales, enabling us to effectively support underprivileged communities and promote the use of eco-friendly products.

Patel Brothers

Since we began sourcing products from tribes in India, a large part of our collection now highlights traditional Indian cultural art, with some items holding religious significance. To further expand our reach and support for these unique offerings, we have formed a strategic partnership with Patel Brothers in Ashburn, a prominent Indian grocery store. Through this collaboration, we are able to sell our eco-friendly and culturally significant products directly to the local community. This partnership provides consistent foot traffic and visibility, particularly among customers seeking authentic Indian products. As a result, this collaboration has boosted our sales, allowing us to support underprivileged communities and promote the use of eco-friendly goods while showcasing traditional Indian craftsmanship.

SV Lotus Temple

Since launching our nonprofit, we’ve proudly partnered with Lotus Temple in Fairfax to bring our eco-friendly, handcrafted products directly to the local Indian-American community. During cultural events and festivals hosted at the temple, we are able to set up stalls that highlight our mission and showcase the artistry of underprivileged tribal artisans in India. This collaboration provides us with an ideal platform to educate visitors, raise funds, and promote traditional Indian craftsmanship through sustainable goods. Our presence at Lotus Temple continues to strengthen community support and increase awareness for our cause.

Lotte Plaza

To expand beyond religious and cultural venues, we partnered with Lotte Plaza Market in Chantilly, a popular international grocery store with a large Indian customer base. This location provides high foot traffic, especially from families seeking authentic cultural goods. By setting up stalls during weekends and special events, we are able to share our mission with a broader audience and drive strong sales. This partnership allows us to raise funds that support underprivileged tribal artisans in India while promoting sustainable, handmade products that celebrate traditional Indian craftsmanship.
